300ex rear shock questiom

ok i know that only 01 raptor shock will fit. but i seen a raptor shock that was said to be a 02 but the rezzie wasnt mounted on the side of the shock it was like a remote rezzie with the hose. is that shock really a 2001?

yes that is a 01 shock,every other year raptor shock is a piggyback version,that one is the remote setup

does the shock have to be a 01 model or will the newer ones w/o remote rezzies work too?

Has to be 01, or have a remote rezzy. The piggyback rezzy doesn't fit.

So the 01 raptor rear shock will bolt up to a 300 ex?

yes, as long as its from an 01 raptor. the 02 and newer shocks have a remote rezzy and they will hit the swingarm

I have a friend with a raptor that I think is an 01 and he bought another one with no motor for parts. I may have to see if this will work and if he want's to sell his spair. so this is just a bolt on thing? Where do you put the shock res? Dose anyone know where there are some pics of this done?

Would this shock make my bike ride realy rough. Is this a worth wile mod to do also I only weigh 160 lbs would I even need the better shock? I have noticed that I bottomed out the rear before but not much!
