cold out side

i jsut got my 450r about 2 weeks ago and it has been hard to start since i got it and now that it is like 5 degrees out side it has been impossible to start since i dont have a heated grage but the one night i had my heater on and it fired right up.
is it that there jsut hard to start in the cold or is mine a dud??

mine allways starts on the first or second kick, but now that winter has come it takes alot to get it going

mine starts fine. It started first kick yesterday and it was 10^.
Choke it, pump the throttle 2-3 times and kick. Works for me.

my old 300 was hard to start in the cold.

I dont dare touch the throttle on mine. I found out the hard way one day. We went out to the farm to ride and i went to start her up pulled the throttle on and i dont know why but i had the throttle pushed in and it wouldnt start for nothing. We let her sit for a little while and it started right up but it smoked after we got it started so i wouldnt touch that throttle when its cold out. Just pull that choke on all the way and kick it a time or two and she will come to life and let it warm up a couple of minutes and then it will take the throttle. I think if you still have problems after that you should stick a new plug in it and try that. If that dont work then take it to the Honda dealer and talk to one of their techs im sure they have herd all of the problems with this quad now. Ride hard brothers

the throttle shouldnt ever be applied while kick starting or you run the risk of the case cracking but ive been treating mine just like a 400ex and she fires no problems. it was 5 degrees outside last night and she fired first kick:devil:

no i havent raced there we usually race at all the fair and go out and tear the farm up on weekends

are you talking about the farm mx track in indianola?? if whats it like riding that, its the first track in the iowa atv hare scramble series and its the first race this season.

Yeah i just got my 450R on friday...its awesome...cant wait till it drys up to ride it...yeah mine was hard at 1st but i just pump the throttle real light like 2-3 times n choke it n it starts right up

i got it running i had it flooded i put it on it side and drained the gas out of the carb and choked it and kicked it 3 times and it fired right up
wow its only the 4th time i road it and i love it even more

now i can be cool and kick my friends quad in 1 kick since he is 18 and im 15 and he cant figure out how to kick it :eek2:
