I bought a new backup engine that im running right now. It is old and has turned to a gold/copper color, looks like crap! Just wondering how do I make it look new? Ive tried Mothers, wd40, and polish components but they dont work. I will post pics of the motor in about 30 minutes.

Someone said to sandblast the whole motor...how do I go about doing this? thanks for any help!

I use stuff made by Maguiers (sp) it is called "Hot Rims"... Hot Rims or Hot Wheels, cant remember which... Anyway it is a wheel cleaner and it works great on motors.. Spray it on, scrub a bit, then pressure wash off. It also works wonders on quads that have that film of grime on them that you just cant get off... Most auto stores have it and wally world does also.

Here are the pics....BUT, no matter how ugly this is, it is an extremely strong 250x motor:devil: lotsa work in it...

The clean head and side case came off my good motor that blew up, thats why they are so nice..

what? people are lazy dont sand blast a motor....i take a pack of tooth brushes, some kerosense, and scrub the piss out of it rinse it a few times wipe it down good bust out some terry close rags and mother polish go at it like crazy for a hour or 2 then wd 40 the whole thing down...thats what i do with a dirty motor

if your still not satisifed with it i guess you could get your cases pced...but that will mean you need to do a whole motor tear down

if you want to get it done easily just spray some Hot Rims, Simple Green, or Orange Blast on it, let it soak for a few mins and rinse it off.

a wire wheel will work but it will leave streaks in it. be sure to use one with fine wires on it and the streaks wont be so bad. but if you wanted it completly clean i would get it sand blasted. theres now way id try to scrub all the fins with a toothbrush. just look in the phone book or ask around in your area for anybody that does sandblasting. sandblasting in wont make it real shiny but it will be real clean. somebody would probally sandblast it for $25.
