nope. :) I've beat 416 ex's with my pred, so I'd say probably not.

No... I ride with someone who has a predator and is 50lbs heavier than me, he smokes me in a drag but in the tight and twisty trails it's the other way around. Drag racing is the predator's strong suit.

No way. I have a 440ex and a co-worker of mine has a 04 predator. The last time we drag raced we were side by side until I hit 5th gear, Then he pulled away from me. Seems like the predator has more top end.

In the woods on my old 300ex I could keep up with my friend's predator, and a z 400. But in brag races, and just overall speed the predator wouldn't have to get out of 4th gear to beat a 300ex.

Why ask a question like that.

I have seen stock predators beat alot of quads that are all tricked out. Polaris has got a sleeper in that predator.
I'll be the odd ball and say Yes:huh
You'll have to be more specific on the riding conditions that you're in. There are numerous times that I've beaten a predator, raptor, DS650, banshee on the little ole 300ex. In any tight woods riding, the 300ex will shine. With a tight chasis and more important, smooth power, you can ride faster in some cases where you can't control the other quads. In the local Harescrambles I passed the same DS650 in every race because of the way you can sneak through tight woods better, on a 300ex. In very slick conditions, the 300ex is almost a better contender to put power to the ground because it has less power to put to the ground. You can also argue tires into the equation. With stock tires I was able to beat a predator up a sand hill that he could barely climb because of the razor rear that come OEM. When it comes time to race it's all about the rider. It's not really a question of will the 300ex beat the predator, it's can YOU on the 300ex beat the other rider on the pred.

A stock predator 500 will kill any 300ex/350. My friend has one and I to say it is a very fast bike. It is a little on the heavy side thow, not the best bike for a track. But for a drag race its fast as hell.

I agree that the predator is a very fast machine. But...... it has very little low end power, heavy, handles loosely, and has quality issues. My brother and I bought new quads at the same time with me having a 400ex and him with the predator. Everytime I ride his predator I feel as though it is going to fall apart. Just doesn't feel solid. His is a 2003 and I know they have improved alot over the past few years. The 400 is one of the most solid machines just needs more top end power to keep up with the liquid cooled dohc engines everything has nowadays.

I bet with a GTthunder 350 big bore kit with the workins it would. Just ask brain-250 or Bradley300. Also ZSK is very right, the rider makes a lot of difference.

maybe a 300ex that has been bored/stroked over 400cc, with like 13:1 compression and ****... that might put up a fight...
but i have no idea since ive never ridden a predator.. sounds extreme to the fullest :D

Don't bet any money on it! A Predator is one of the fastest quads you can buy right now.................I've seen them beat 450Rs drag racing both being stock.

Is it me, or is the predator really long? I was watching some of the GNCC I taped from 2003 and it looked really long.

Probably so cause I think they shortend the swing arm in 04. I know they made some kind of change in the swing arm for 04.

Well that's just silly. If you're in such tight terrain that your top speed is 17mph, then yes, a 300EX will beat a Predator. But that's taking the motor out of the equation. In that situation, a 5hp lawnmower motor will work just as well.
We're arguing motors, not chassis.

Its guarenteed a 300ex will eat a pred up on the trails
Its too heavy

I guess that the motor is being argued here and not the chassis. In that case then the 300 won't have a chance. Even at 400+ cc's

the fact is that a predator is just fast. thats all it is to it. its not really that good any where else. im sure that honda or suzuki could make a bike like that but that isn't there intention.
compared to 400ex
mx track-400ex

Do you have a positive IQ
What are you talkin about are you tryin to argue about the truth of a 300ex smoking the heavy hog on the trails:rolleyes:
Its a no brainer pred= handles horrible on trails
I have a positive IQ obviously if i figured out that the predator is a piece of junk for anything but drag racing
The pred has double the horsepower, better suspension at only 50 pounds heavier. 50lbs is well within the difference in rider weight. It's like saying a 250ex is slower than a trx90 because it weighs more.

How did a post that was dead for 2 yrs get a response?
To close this subject once and for all, the predator isnt all that in 2nd or 3rd so in a real short distance you might have a chance with some mods, but if the predator ever gets into 4th or 5th, no 300 or 400 all tricked out will hang with it, now a 440 or bigger might have a chance but 9 times out of 10 when it comes to drag racing, alot has to do with the rider.

it would be close because the 300ex/350x conversion can beat a stock 400ex for a fact...the throw in the big bore, cams, carb and a pipe on the 350x engine it would be close...the 350x is a 6 speed too
