My cousin has a 2001 250ex that seems to have a clunking noise coming from the drive shaft or rear end. When you hit the throttle there is a slight delay before the slop in the drive is taken up-it makes one heck of a clankng noise. I'm familiar with chain drive quads, but would appreciate any input on what parts to replace in the rear end of this 250ex.

Thanks in advance

Seems to me you have a problem with the U joint. It is the same as a car. You need to take it in or tear down the swing arm to get to it because everything is enclosed.

Thanks for the replys guys. I pulled the two caps that cover the swingarm pivot bolt. Instead of a nut being in the there, there is and allen bolt. Does anyone know what size that swingarm bolt is?
