is 12.5 or 12 enough or just jump to 13?

see guys i wanna run pump gas but will find race gas if the 12 aint enough or worth it vs the 13.5 ? i wanna run a cam like a hotcams stage 2 or something with good bottom end and a good run threw and a sparks exhaust

and im gonna be trail riding and drag most rec riding this so i want some good snap off the bottom end but a good run threw the rpm's and if im going about this the wroung way let me know

wanted some of the guys with this set to maybe chime in and tell me how they like it

Umm, so if you aren't running a cam now. . . then do it and great gains come of it. Piston, seriously a piston is not needed to be fast, race wise, in a straight line really doesn't mean anything in this sport. Tell me this, what was the R designed to do, race MX and XC and what is the most important part in those fields, rider skill and handling. . . So get a cam, train and ride harder and if it doesn't turnout to be what you are looking for train harder and get you JE 13:1 (which has three rings) and run race gas. Low end will be there, but i will say, always think about your abilities before the quad's. . . my .02

ouch man anyone ever tell you your are a grade a butt head lol j/k man i know what you mean but aroud here stright line does matter and as far as trail riding it doesnt have enough bottom end coming outta the corners i find myself clutching more than i like to be so again i as the question and stated in my frist post

yeah i have the je 13:1 with hrc cam and im getting the vcp pulsecharger as soon as its available
I was talking about initially when i got the quad. the hrc cam made it rev faster and it became alot easier to zip through the tight trails. without the hrc cam alot of times you would give it too much throttle to get in the power and it madde tight technical stuff a littler rougher than it should have been. hope that makes sense.

from i understand about the hotcam stage 2 it has no loss on bottom end but has very good gains throughout the mid and top. i am pretty sure that is the one i will be going with and a piston also. but is there some 12:1 or 12.5:1 pistons out for the 450R, if so who makes them and where can i get one? i had decided on a JE 13:1 but i would really like to be able to run regular pump gas some of the time, like when i run out of race or can't afford to go buy more at the moment. you all understand that right?

I run HRC cam and 13:1 JE 3-ring stock bore piston. You have to at least run half race and half super with 13:1. HRC cam or Sparks stage 2 will help top end and a good exhaust and piston will help the bottom end. Mine has power whenever you nail it... from bottom to top. Hard to keep front down when you get good traction.

If you go with the HOT CAM Stage 2 run a 12:1 piston. If you decide to go with a HRC Cam You can run a 13.8:1 piston.
I say go big or stay stock, that way you will never second guess your self. Is far as bottom end goes the HRC w/13.8:1 will tear your arms off.:macho

You would be fine with Sunoco 94 if you can get it.
