i have a 300ex and i was thinking about swapping the motor out. i wanted to put either a crf450 motor or a xr600/650 motor in it. anybody got opinions on this and/or how hard this would be? or if anyone knows what you have to do to get them in there that would be awsome too. if anybody can think of a 4 stroke motor i could put in my 300's frame that would hall *****, i would greatly appretate it. thanks every1
how lod r u.....i would put a crf250 or crf450 motor in it

a little fabricatin you can do anything you want. just do it. remember that frame was meant to withstand the torque of a 300cc motor. id definately be welding a jungle gym of supports or you may crash or somethin.

Honestly, if you're going to go through all the expense of a major conversion quad with a powerful motor like a crf450 or an xr600, you should get a better base quad than a 300EX.
The only thing a 300EX/crf450 conversion would be good for is beating a few other quads in a drag race. You still won't be top dog, you only be a mid-level player, because you won't beat the banshees or the major modded 4-strokes. And the 300EX chassis just doesn't have the strength and suspension to keep up with other quads in the track and trails, regardless of the motor.
If you're just looking for more power, but still want an easy, do-able project, I would recommend the 350X conversion. It's not as fast as a crf450, but it would still be a great power increase, and a much easier project.

also without a lot of frame mods it will be hard, just look how tight it is to get the 300 in there

put a 350x motor in it ... contact lost creek and they'll track a crate motor down or get you one that was ran ... powroll has a installation kit that includes some spacers and you can get an exhaust system from them that bolts right up
great power increase

i got 2-300exs
one has a cbr 600 street bike motor in it and the other one has a xr 500 motor. both needed alot of mods but they're both well worth it. but if ure gonna go for xr600/650 motor. you might as well put the bigger one in it if ure gonna b modding the frame.

i was considering puting an xr600 motor in mine, but i dont have the finances to do so right now. i have seen a 400ex frame with a xr600 motot and from a distancce it looked stock execpt for the kick start, xr600 would be the simplest, it is a a big air cooled motor that would make planty of power for the 300 chassis, and you dont have to mess with a radiator
