hey whats up i just got my 400ex i know this is probably a stupid question but what does RES mean on the fuel valve thing?? thanks for help

It's a resevoir that holds something like .3 gallons of gas in case you run out of gas in your main tank.

its reserve, there is no resivor it all comes out of the same tank there are just two different takups in the tank each at a different level

That's a little hard to follow, so here is the full explanation.

Your gas tank has two fuel outlets, one high, one low. They both feed into the same fuel line.

When you set your switch to "ON", it pulls fuel from the high outlet. When you run out of gas, it means that your fuel level has dropped below the high outlet level. There is still some fuel left in the bottom of the tank.

When you set your fuel switch to "RES" (short for reserve) is pulls fuel from the low outlet.

The basic theory is that when you set your switch to "ON" it doesn't drain your tank completely dry. When you run out of gas in the "ON" position, you still have a small amount of reserve left to get you back to camp.

If switch your fuel to reserve, remember to switch it back after you refuel, because if you run out of gas in the "RES" position, you're S.O.L.
