Would it be ok to park my quad on the grab bar, standing upright for a long period of time? I turned the gas off and ran it until it stalled, although there is still some gas in the tank. There is also still some oil in the quad. I parked it like this to eliminate an oil leak form the bottom of the case out of the gasket. Thanks for any help.

i would think draining all the oil out would be best

sould be ok. But when you restart it back for the first time put it on all 4 for maybe 1h just to let the oil go where it's seposed to. and run it for 5 min before you check the oil if not you won't have a good reading

bump

Im new to this site and had the same exact question. Space in my garage is kinda tight it would be nice to just park the quads on the bars. Anyone else know if this is ok?

sean, I posted the same thing in the open forums after not getting very many responses... here is the link http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?threadid=141075

General consensus is that it would be ok, but don't ride immediately after putting back on four wheels. Also, I let the quad run with the gas in the off position until it stalls so no gas leaks out when I flip it over. Don't forget to turn off the ignition after it stalls!

i am getting an enclosed trailer, so would it be ok to park it vertical in the trailer (with oil still in it)

for 2-3 hours

when you have yours flat in a trailer do you use wheel stops or just a tie down from the front and back grab bars

thanks

Ok well heres the problem I ran into. I was parking vertically everytime I went riding. It was the only way I could fit two quads into my trailer. The other quad is a 250EX and it was fine, however my 400EX after doing this a couple times ended up having oil run all the way into the air filter. I discovered this after it wouldn't start. Opened it up and the air filter was soaked so I cleaned it up good, then drained the oil filled gas out of the bowl and it hesitated, then started up. The pilot jet was probably clogged with oil also.

So yeah its probably ok to park em vertically but you have to drain the oil first. I just bought a new trailer so I won't have to worry about it anymore.

In regards to tiedowns...the new trailer I have is a flatbed so I just put tie downs on the front and back. I double up though, 2 on the front and 2 on the back, in case one comes loose.
