just wondering, instead of getting an aftermarket rear shock, could i just get a stock one and send it to pep or something to have it rebuilt or revalved and will it be much better? im not looking to just make it as good as stock im wondering if they can make it alot better and how much would it cost for the rear thanks

Yes, you can have your shock rebuilt and converted to a sagging shock if you wish. It is a nice improvement over stock but not as good as a full aftermarket shock would be.

The forum rules won't allow me to quote prices.

ok so what exactly is self sagging? is it worth the extra money to get an elka rear instead of just converting the stock? and also, which should i do first, the rear or the front with a-arms? i mostly need it for jumping but also trail riding

self sagging basically means that it allows the quad to settle down into its travel a couple inches for much better handling. If it is in your budget, the Elka rear is worth the extra $ over the stock with rebuild. I would keep the stock arms and go with front and rear Elka shocks.

so with it will i still have the full travel because it seems like with that just the weight would make it use the travel more making it easier to bottom out....also could i get the front shocks and then later get a-arms and revavle the shocks for it? bc i want the a-arms for more travel but theyre not in my budget right now i can barely get the shocks. which should i get first if i can only get one set and then the other in a couple months front or back? thanks and sorry about all the questions

No you will not loose travel, you gain up travel. Yes, you can have the shocks revalved and resprung if you get wider arms later. Buy the fronts first.

I did not rear the whole thread but I have been really happy with my rear conversion I have been using it for 3 years me being a lighter person I would cringe when I cliped the edge of a jump because it would want to throw me over the bars and I had the shock adjusted as needed but it was not cutting it once it was resprung for me and revalved life was much better :D

ok i dont think im gonna get the suspension because i dont really need it, but how much air do you think i could get with stock shocks, and still land alright? also, ive heard of using yfz shocks, i might want to try that later on instead of elkas or something, how does that work?

YFZ shocks do not work well on a Honda!

I just did a 60 foot table top at the elsinore track on stock 400ex shocks, and i cased a couple times and i havent adjusted them at all, so im pretty sure they have some potential.
