Louisville, KY nestled along the Indiana border is where ATV enthusiast and manufacturers from around the country converged for the 1st Annual ATV Industry Show this past October.

I hope everyone enjoys the coverage from the event, and I am sorry it took so long to post it, but everytime that I have planned to post the coverage another current event took its place. With the Indy Show right around the corner, I decided it was now or never.

Many kids first hear the words Louisville when they start little league baseball and reach for their Louisville slugger baseball bat, which has also made the city of Louisville famous among Baseball Enthusiast. The largest baseball bat in the world is located in downtown Louisville

Horses are also an important part of Kentucky’s heritage with Kentucky Derby and numerous horse farms. The city commemorated its horse legacy by place uniquely decorated horses on the corner of almost every block of the city.

Suzuki has been aggressively trying to fill gaps in its product line, so they would be able to offer every consumer a vehicle that would fit their specific needs. One of the their newest innovations is the Suzuki King Quad

Admin

Suzuki also hasn’t forgot about the sport market and the ATV racer. They released their Z400 in March of 2002, which was the 1st Sport ATV to utilize the latest technology in 4-Stroke Engine design, which was a huge leap over air cooled Honda 400EX engine that was developed in the 90’s. Since the LTZ400’s release two years ago, it has undergone some improvements with each new production release besides just the color and graphics of the machine. In the past, engineering updates to any ATV after its initial design would take years, unlike the motorcycle industry where the machines were constantly being improved upon and redesigned every year almost.

Admin
01-18-2005, 12:49 PM
Fishers ATV World will be providing full television coverage about the show in a future episode. Part of the episode, will explain the new and improved LTZ400.

Admin

For the 2005 LTZ400, Suzuki listened to its customers and added front Piggyback Reservoir shocks with Compression and rebound adjustability.

Admin
01-18-2005, 12:51 PM
Also, the addressed some weak spots in the frame design and added additional gussets to help prevent the earlier frame issues. They also increased the engine performance by changing the cam profiles and added a larger carburetor

The biggest buzz in the rumor mill now is Suzuki’s newest creation, the revolutionary 450cc engine for their newest 4-Stroke racing Motorcycle. This super lightweight and small engine is what many ATV racers are anxiously awaiting to be released in a new production Suzuki ATV. Lets all keep are fingers crossed that this becomes a reality in the near future

Suzuki has definitely proven that they are serious about ATV Racing with the signing of Doug Gust this past year, and their active support in his racing program, which allowed him to focus on racing and when the National Championship with ease. With this years racing success, Suzuki has stepped up their program for next year with the signing of 2003 MX Champion, Jeremiah Jones. They also have added amateur riders to their racing program including Jeremy Lawson for MX and yours truly, Harlen Foley, for the XC Series. I am extremely excited to be riding for such a first class organization.

Doug Gust as usual took some time out to sign autographs for his youngest fans.

Several Exhaust Manufacturers had their latest and greatest exhaust systems on display. In the past, many riders were only worried about the pipe that produced the most power, but with many rider areas being closed because of noise issues and the newly enforced sound restrictions at many race events, the exhaust manufacturers are quickly reacting by producing quieter exhaust system to meet consumer demands.

DMC was one of the many companies that reacted and created their new “Pro Quiet” Exhaust system that has a decibel reading of only 96db, which is only a few db higher than the Stock Silencer on many ATVs.

BUBS Exhaust System has decided to enter the ATV Market after years of producing top quality motorcycle exhaust system. With the ATV growing market, it only makes since for them to offer the ATV rider yet another choice in Exhaust systems.

Their exhaust is unique from other systems in the way that the exhaust canister is assembled. Many Manufacturers use pop rivets for securing the canister to the exhaust, but this makes changing the exhaust packing time consuming and difficult for many riders. BUBS recognized the problem, and they designed a canister that can easily be dissembled to replace the packing. Also, their Exhaust packing is specially designed to expand when heated to fill all the voids in the exhaust system silencer, which also makes it easier to install since it is compressed upon installation.

Admin
01-19-2005, 07:03 AM
Tireballs have changed the way ATV racers now prepare for a race. In the past, you would see stacks on spare tires in the pits with air compressors running for impact guns with several people waiting in the pits for a rider to head into the pits with a flat. The pit crew would scramble to lift the machine and get the tire changed in the quickest time possible, but still at a minimal of 30 seconds or as long as several minutes later the rider was back on the track.

Today, all of this is a thing of the past for many riders that have decided to run tireballs. The Tireballs are lined inside the tire and if one is punctured the others will fill the space and allow the rider to finish the race without ever stopping for a tire change.
