what would I need to put a cr 500 motor in my '86r

do you already have the motor? if not, i think you can modify the lower cases to accept the cr500 jug so you can effectively convert your motor into a cr500, plus it mounts right up.

how would I go about doing that, would my tranny, clutch, etc. hold up?

honestly, i couldn't tell you how to do it, but i know you would want to do some work to your bottom end first. Either get some yukon heavy duty tranny gears or get your cryoed. billet clutch basket with heavy duty springs.

you may want to call a renouned engine builder about this project. call like ESR (www.esr250.com), curtis sparks, CT, or go to **********.com and ask around for help.

putting a cr500 cylinder on a trx requires alot of machining. MAC racing did it with good results but still the reliability of these huge big bore is low. youd be better off with a 330,350 and port the hell out of it.

if you go to patriotracing.net they have a 500 jug thats go with the trx its a saber i think

ask dan and he can help or go to pstuning.com off the link on his site and you can see info of it running down at the oregon coast they were claiming and i say claiming around 90hp

My brother just finished putting one in. But he used a 400ex frame. He had a good bit of fab work to do to get it to work. He built his for short track and tt. if you have any plan of trail riding it you might want to reconsider it shakes like you would not beleive, but i tell you one thing when you hit the gas on that thing dear lord hold on. It makes my 330r seam tame. So if your still interesed let me know ill ask him what excatly it took

best thing to do to tame a 500 is gear it right that thing will hit 100+
