Intake trobles

Hello

I'm very new to the ATV racing scene but have raced moto-cross for a few years. I bought a 2000 400Ex with a 440 big bore to start my new class.Now i have a problem.Can anyone tell me if there is a huge benifit to an alumanum airbox. Or is it possible to get just as much performance out of a "POWER LID" from K&N and move me battery to up front.

Take the air box off. Just run an open filter. You shouldnt have any problems as long as its kept oiled real well. You could also use an outerware in it.
