I went look at a used race ready 416ex today w/ Lonestar +2 a-arms, PEP shocks, Lonestar axle, Curtis Sparks 416 kit, Kehien carb, graphics, hood, nerfs, renthal bars, shaved fenders, radial fronts/klaw rears, and a few p/c 'd things. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what to look out for when buying a raced bike. And does this sound like a good deal to anyone, I mean, it looks good and everything. I really can't pass this up, he's askin $2800 and it looks bad*****.

I was really wondering how much it would be to rebuild and revalve the shocks (PEP), that's why I put it in this section

yes look for cracks in the frame,.if it is straight ride it real good, make sure it idles properly, nothing seems to wobble when you ride it,make sure all bearings are good.and when you go to get it,make sure the guy doesnt have it already started, tell him you want to start it cold,so you can see how everything goes, just be careful and you should be good

Even if you have to have the Frame gusseted, shocks revalved/rebuilt, and replace other things such as bearings, chain and sprockets, ball joints, etc., you are still getting a heck of a deal for $2,800.

Does anyone know where I can get a gusset set for a 400ex just to be safe. I'm gonna p/c the frame so while I have it apart I might do some welding.

with all the mods you listed, 2800 is a good deal. everyone has mentioned the major stuff but having the shocks revalved and serviced shouldnt be more than 150 bucks. how bout posting some pics when you get it!!
