I;ve been cruising this forum now and i have yet to see anyone rockin a 250r for a freestyle bike. Is this because they are old and out dated, cause i'd like to just keep my 88 R but worried about how my frame will handle it, i'm not lookin to go big right off. ive always wanted to get into it and i;ll have a chance to place a ramp at my parents land (13 acres i don;t think there goin to use all of it:D )

but i was kinda thinkin along the lines of a freestyle bike a Z400/KX400 or a 400ex something like that. I'm more leaned toward the Z/KX bike more power and i heard they ride really smooth for what i remember i rode a brand new one when they first came out but its been to long now.

but when i was watching all those guys in hevous 6 was rockin 400ex and Z400 and cannondales.

Just lookin for some advice

Creech used to fmx a 250r along with jon chandler and a few others in the huevos videos. they are pretty good quads, but i think id prefer a newer fourstroke, maybe a 400ex modded, or any of the Z/clones. but you could use a 250r, they still make good freestyle quads.

yamaha raptor 660r.... its big but im only 5' 5" 120 pounds and 13 years old in i can do alot of stuff on it:o i love it. u can throw it sideways in the air for a whip u can correct ur self easily and its very torquey

The YFZ is the best quad for freestyle. Its got plenty of power to hit anything stock, and its small enough to toss around no matter how big you are. It also has has a skinny dirtbike seat which is ideal for freestyle.

just about anything goes. Personally I like 4 strokes but hell yea you can use a 250r if thats what you like. Just throw on some shocks and make sure shes running good(frame and motor in decent condition) and your ready to go.

Shocks go w/ everything and other than that about anything goes thats on the list. Personally from my experience w/ the new yfz450, they fly straight as an arrow compared to my elka 440ex. Dunno how well the cr450r's fly.:o

400ex, z400, yfz450, cr450r, 250r, cannondale, raptor, hell you get the idea

As for the 250r its all preferance. There was a guy on the quadfmx forums that absolutely kicked *** on it w/ freestyle and then moved to a yfz450 and regretted it big time.

I'd take a 4 stroke any day over a 2 stroke though.:D

the 250r is ok. It's so long and i dont like it as much for jumping freestyle set ups as much as a 4 stroke. Any of the 400s are good for freestyle. The suzukawicat's frame needs to be reinforced right away, they snap pretty easily. The 400ex with start to crack around the shock to a arm, the up shock mounts will get pretty week too with stock shocks. The 400ex does lack power but a pipe and some head work really wakes it up. The 250r will just start to fall apart. Ive never jumped a c dale so i dont really know. I would narrow your choices down to an ex will some mods or a kfx/z400.

the z and clones are pieces of junk dont get one. if u can get a raptor or a 400ex but if u could afford it get the yfz they are absolutly amazing i have never had a problem with the frame.

Starting out freestyle, maybe a 400ex something like that.
For the bigger jumps and be comfortable, try later a 450

Cool thanks guys i think i;m goin to go with the 400ex though i plan on riding some MX this summer and don;t want to beat my 88 to death on the tracks so i figured i;ll go with a 400ex, it would be easier to keep it all on one bike plus my 88 is damn near perfect condition.

id take that offer anyway depending on the year. if its a 2003 take it, the 250r is losing value everyday. A lot of guys like Sheldon Riggs and Josh Normington can easily throw around the rappy. Id take it because you will sell your raptor a lot easier in the near future than the 250r.
