I have a 98' Chevy S-10, and want to lift it, I am not sure how far yet. Or what I will need, what brand is best and what not. I would like to make the lift myself in medals class. I can draw it in CAD, and then make it in metals. All I really want is if anyone has any pics of any S-10's lifted, and what they used. Thanks

i know everyone always says "OOO GO SUPERLIFT!" but i would stray away from them. i dont know much about lifting S-10s but i do know jeeps and i guess some stuff is universal...so heres what i can tell you... most companies are equal in quality (most will disagree but a lot of times they are the same quality) you just carry the name and the BIG price with you (superlift is a prime example). check the materials they are made of. if possible get close up pics of the welds and see if their welder is decent.

what do you plan on doing with it? rock out for looks, weekend warrior, or all out wheelin machine! this is BIG factor in choosing the size of your lift. keep in mind that some states have laws as to how high you can go (stupid...? yes!)

how big of tires do you want to run? when buying most lift kits they have listed what size tires you can run with their lift with and without fender trimming. also keep in mind that some states require fender flares if your tires stick out so far past the fenders.

thats about all i can think of right now. just make sure to choose smart, talk to the company, agarvate the holy hell out of them. after all you are giving them money so you should know all you want about their product. good luck with your search and have fun wheelin!

Thanks for the info! I just want it to look good, because it LOOKS like a 2wd, but it is a 4wd. I would not lift a 2wd. I dont know what a 4" lift would look like, I wanted to see some pics of one if I could. But I am not too worried about what size tire, I do not have a specific size, just bigger, so I will just use whatever they recomend for the size of lift. I will take it off road a little, but not much, probably just go out on the dunes every now, and the then, and want it to be able to go in and out of somemud holes, but i am by no means going to "scrap" it. I am not going to lift it to the sky, I just want to lift it a little ways.

Ohh, I want to try and make the lift kit myself. So if anyone knows where I could get some pics of some kits i would appriciate it, thanks.

I know Tuff Country makes good lifts for full size tucks .... not sure if they do for an S-10 though.

if im not mistaken S-10s are independant front suspension and making the lift yourself would be the biggerest (yes biggerest) ******* ever. most of the time with an independant sus lift they come with new, extended spindles and drop brackets for your lower control arms. if you could find JUST the spindles i could see making the kit yourself but you would still need measurements from the actual lift. they are made over many many trial and error attempts. its not just a drop the control arm 2 in and get 2in of lift, you dont know how much you might get. there is also a change in camber, caster, toe and steering angles (though most stock steering systems are good for 5-6 in of lift). there are so many things to factor in that you probably didnt plan for or have never thought of that are next to impossible to figure out, unless you are pretty freakin good in math and very open minded, without trying it and realizing you screwed up.

if i said stuff a few times or it didnt make sense sory. im tired as hell

just stay away from body lifts, 1 inch is fine, but i would'nt do anymore than that.

Thanks for the info kicken250x, I have thought about all of that, but dodnt know how much it effects it all. I am going to find out the info before I do it, and if I cant I will just buy it, but if I could, it would be a good learning experiance.

Is 1" enough to make much differance? I mean I was thinking atleast 4"... Ohh wait were did you mean no more than 1" body lift?

i dont tihnk it would be that hard to make, as long as you get the numbers right in the prototrack...

we put a 4 inch rancho suspension lift on my friends s-10 with a 2 inch body lift, and it was about even with my truck. I'll see if i can dig up pics of that thing.

I would definitly buy one if you are going to keep the IFS. also if you go buy some of the off-raod truck magazines they have a lot of good advertisers in them.
