here we go...fuel and air is injected into the cylinder, the piston comes up and compresses the fuel and air, at this point the spark plug ignites the mixture and send the piston down again as the piston goes down the exhaust valve opens leting out the exhaust, the valves open and close by the cam. The cam being atached to the crankshaft by a gear open the valves with lifters that ride on the cam lobes when the lobe goes up it openes the valve, when it goes down the valve closes...the cylinder strokes go as such intake/compression/power/exhaust the intake brings in fuel+ air, compression compresses the fual and air, the power stroke is when the the fuel+air ignites and pushes the piston down, and the exhaust stroke lets the exhaust out. Spark is created by the flywheel, a series of magnets spinning on the fly wheel spin around passing the magneto ciol. The magneto consists of many coils of copper wire that are used to store the electricity used to create the spark. this of course is just the basics, i didnt say anything about points, multiple cylinder engines(firing order), carbs etc etc...also im not getting into to strokes which i could go on all day about as well lol...anyway it should give you a good start, if you need to know anything else just IM me... Trick450r on aim......that info isn't all that bad for a 15 yr old eh?
