hey i was talkin to some friends of mine in gym and they were saying that their friend put a piston outta a chevy 350 motor into his 400ex? is this possible? i know that theyve done some weird stuff before and my friend right now put a modern rear suspension and did motor work so his 74 panther 340 is a sleeper.:p but is that chevy 350 piston possible?

sure you can put one in there. though I think you will have the same result if you put a pop can in there. it won't actually work once you put it in.

No way in hell. The skirt on a Chevy 350 piston is longer than the stroke of a 400 EX:D Plus, 4.00" piston going to a 400 EX cylinder which is what size?:D

i dont understand how you would even concider that being possible.. let alone ask on a forum. That just shows that you did think maybe it was possible. Enough to listen to that retarts bull ****

Yea thats because a 4.3 is the same thing as a 350 minus 2 cylinders

This is somewhat true, a 4.3 is basically a 350 block minus two cylinders....

What are you talking about? he only asked if he COULD put that piston in a 400ex. with enough work like removing the crank and rod and gears and boring the cylinder I think it would fit! He didn't ask if it would actually run. so the answer to his question is yes you could put one in there. will the quad ever run again NO!

a piston that is 4.000 inches is 101.6mm. i dunno even remember what the stock bore is on a 400ex and im not gonna bother looking it up. you would have other things to worry about to like wrist pin hieght, the size of the skirts, and the rings. your fiend is probally full of ****, but im not gonna say its impossible because i dont have all the measurements. there was a guy around here in the 60's that built some pretty wild enigines. he had a I6 that even held a 1/8 mile track record for awhile. and in that I6 set some massive tractor pistons.

Thank god someone looked into it this far. A 440 kit has what a 82.5 mm piston, how do you get the other 1/2" of piston into the jug?......ahhhhh no sleeve!
