spring???

there is a spring that is inside where the oil filter goes, what purpose does it serve?

it will allow oil to bypass the oil filter if it becomes pluged, (if you happened to have lost it replace);)

if it's not in their the bike will not filter the oil. The oil will by pass the filter.

I still have it but I am having trouble getting it back in. Can you give me some pointers as to how to get it back in there?
