Check out YFZCentral.com

If you got a 04 yfz you should be interested in buying a decompression plug, could save you from buying a new bike.
Tons of good info.

There are usually decompression plugs on ebay. I got mine from www.thumpertalk.com in their online store. woodward specialties also has them I think.

Definatly something you want to get. I put ours on before we ever road the quad. I kept the stock one and sure enough I eventually ran into someone (at a race I might add) that needed one in a bad way.

When you put the bolt back in on the side be easy, can't tell you how many "oh s@#$ I striped it now what" threads I have seen.

I was reading about 5lbs torque for the side bolt? Any tips on how to avoid striping the bolt. Sounds like you've got some experience with this one JSHTEX. THX

Actually I was lucky, I had read enough (and seen someone else lose the stock plug) to know that I needed one. But I had no idea about the torque value for the bolt. It was only after I had sucessfully done ours that I started noticing threads about people who had stripped their bolts.

I skimmed thru the service manual looking for the bolt and its torque value, but I didn't even see the bolt. Could be because it doesn't do anything on the yfz, so they think there is no reason to remove it. Or... it could be that I just didn't see it.;)

I just wanted to warn you to be carefull, save you a trip to the autoparts store for a helicoil kit.

Good luck.
