My bike wont start. and I though it was just the battery. but I went out to look at it and I turned it over and there is only one big "CLACK" then nothuing else happens. heres a pic of where the noise comes from.

Could my starter be messed up?. and how much do they cost

Nice bike!! The thing you are pointing to I believe is the starter solenoid. My bike was doing the same thing and I tightened my battery cable connections and the prob went away. It could possibly be you switch also I have had that happen before to. If your solenoid is bad you can take a screw driver and put it across the terminals on the solenoid and see if t will crank like that. BUT BE SURE YOU ARE INSULATED FROM THE SCREWDRIVER. It will shock the S@#T out of you if not.

yea most likly the solenoid, if it makes a clicking sound thats most definatly what it is, usually when the seolenoid clicks there is not enough battery power or a cable is loose or the selonoid is broke, try the screw driver trick and also try wacking it a few times to try to get it to work, when mine stops working (mine in under the seat) i slam my fist on the seat nd then it cranks again

My positive battery cable comes loose all of the time. Just get a flathead and tighten it back up, and you should be good to go.

u get your problem fixed...if not...fallow the solenoid (sp) wire to the starter...there is a rubber boot on top of that wire...pull that boot back and tighten that bolt up too...the same thing happend to my friends 400ex and he thought it was the solenoid (sp) and come to find out the connection to the starter from the solenoid was loose

i agree...check ALL connections in the starting circut. if you get a chitty connection you get chitty start (aka none). another way you can check to see is run a voltage drop test on the system with a multi meter. get one for less than 5 bucks at the harbor freight. start at the BATTERY POSTS then go to the cables, then the rest of the system. thats the mistake most people make is not checking at the posts, they go straight to the cable. good luck to ya man! later

sic ride too man!;)
