View Full Version : The little metal guard thing on counter sprocket
Is it really required? I ordered a 14t front sprocket instead of the stock 13t, and it wont fit back on.

thats a case saver. You deffinatley want to keep it or replace it w/ a stronger aftermarket one. It protects your engine if the chain breaks and cracks back against the case. That can cause some major damage! They run about $20-30 for a new aftermarket one.

You won't be able to get it back on if you went with the bigger 14t. Just the chance you take.;)
I heard you can grind at the case saver a bit to make it fit.

Yes, I ground down my case saver to make the sprocket fit. I think that next time I need new chain and sprockets I will just get a smaller rear from sidewinder. Cause the chain still rubs a little on the saver. And I don't realy trust that the saver is thinner now either.
