I am going to be buying new plastic. I have narrowed my choices to getting new stock red plastic, or getting the new stock style replacement plastic from Maier in Silver. Which would look better?

I would go with the new stock red plastic. I hear it is easier to mount than mier.

The Silver would look sweet :D Here is mine. Mine was yellow and I went with the Maier Blue. Looks good when it is cleaned up.

Tommy I really don't like Yellow for some reason, and it seems more common then Silver would. I like the blue. How do you like the fit and finish of the Maier? Held up and bolt up pretty easy compared to stock? I want to get the new front fender they have come out with, side panels are all one piece with stock replacement front type plastic.

Dave, I saw those in person...it is some nice stuff!! the intergrated panels are a great idea.

Ben, do you know if they have the holes for the key and neutral light on the part above the headlights? I can't really tell from that picture. I have thought about black, but it just shows scratches to bad.

Dave, I can't remember exactly, but I thought so. Maybe PM Marty...he has a couple pics of them too.

Black looks awesome till you ride it...believe me I have owned 2 black quads.

I just got all of my maier for the 450R last night...they have come a long way in a few years!!:D

White plastic on a red frame with a red seat would look cool like an 86 R. Old school.

I've liked the red frame and yellow plastic ever since I saw Steve Abbotts 400EX. However, I think the Maier orange would look awesome too... with my next choice being silver.

As far as fit and finish... well, I put some on our 300 last year and it was a pain in the butt. The seat plastic, I had to machine on, to keep the fenders from poking up when the seat was latched and I had to make a small bracket for the front of the seat to give it some support. I also had to drill all my own holes. The Maier simply does not come close (any where close) to the factory Honda. WHAT really burnt my butt was the price compared to 400 plastic... Maier, in my opinion, puts it to the customer because they know what Honda charges for 300 plastic and they know what the market will bear. Oh well, that's free enterprise. Okay, I'm off my soapbox now...

Good Luck with your choice... if you like it, thats all that counts!

Ben I'll PM Marty and see if he can get me the pictures.

Will you be racing any local races this year?

Stock plastic is way stronger than any other plastics out there, And alot cheaper! I would go with stock, But alot of that is determined on your style of riding. I race XC, and my plastics look pretty rough within one race season!

I like the red and white, takes a little more effort to clean but don't show scratches as bad as dark colors

i love my maier plastic. if u are mechanically inclined at all and if u can read, u can mount the maier plastic. but take your time lining everything up before you drill the holes for the mounts.
