400 motor on 300

I was wondering if a 400ex motor would mount into a 300ex frame or would if have to be modified? Just wondering.

i would rec a 350x trike motor first

They fit, Actully just last week, i was down at my local shop, and a Guy brought in a 250x with a xr600 motor in it, Looked wicked!

A few months ago in a dirtwheels readers rides special section, there was a 300 with a 400 motor in it. Thats the only time i've seen it done, and the frame and everything looked stock too.

Are you positive that it fits with no modification to the frame?

Im fairly intrigued as to if the 400ex motor will fit into the 300 frame. If so might save me from wantin a newer quad for a while. Also you know which issue it was in? Thanks a bunch.
