Pro 450r Racers Please Help

I JUST FINISHED SELLING MY 2000 CAMARO SS. I SOLD IT CAUSE I WANTED TO GET OUT OF RACING, YET I BOUGHT MYSELF ANOTHER TOY (05 TRX450R) AND NOW WANT TO GET BACK INTO IT AGAIN.


ANYWAYS EACH ONE OF MY BUDDIES HAS A SPORTS CAR PLUS THIER OWN 4 WHEELER ASWELL AND DAMN DO WE TALK $hIT TO EACH OTHER. LOL.

ANYWAYS WE WENT OUT RIDING TODAY AND EVENTUALLY STARTING DRAG RACING EACH OTHER. I LOST TO A RAPTOR 660 AND I DID'NT LIKE THAT AT ALL.

I ALREADY ORDERED AN HRC KIT FROM PLANET HONDA.

MY QUESTION FOR YOU PRO'S IS WHAT EXHAUST DO I GO WITH?
WHAT BRAND AND WETHER OR NOT TO GET A FULL SYSTEM OR SLIP ON?

I DONT THINK I WILL EVER DO A HIGHER COMPRESSION PISTON OR ANY HEAD OR MOTOR WORK.

I REALLY LIKE BOTH THE YOSHIMURA TRS CARBON SYSTEM AND HMF,S BILL BALLANCE SYSTEM ASWELL. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

Both are good systems but unnecessarily expensive! Regular HMF,
Sparks,CHM, ESR (cheaper one), run about the same at a lot less money! With HRC kit you shouldn't have any problems with a drag race!

I run the HMF balance system and really like it. I also dont think a raptor should have beat the 450, unless the raptor is built. After you get the HRC kit it shouldnt be any problem.

a piston would really do some good in this case, and the sparks system is what i have and i love it, it's kinda loud, but throaty and mean, if you get an exaust, spend another couple of hundred bucks, get you a cam, a piston, and a cdi, and smoke there ***'s everytime, you'll love it, plus it ain't all that hard to change pistons, i mean i thought it would be hard, but with help once, now it's no big deal, and a service manual will go along ways

Was your parking brake on cuz thats the only way that i know of that you can loose to a raptor my buddy has a raptor with a dmc and kn and dont even wanna race let alone beat me.

What is wrong with you people. A raptor with a pipe would smoke a stock trx450r. I don't like raptors but lets be honest.
I have a trx and yfz that I race. My brother rode a TRX with HRC cam and HMF full system last season. This is enough to outrun a raptor. But a stock 450r won't do it. The yosh pipe and the HMF ballance pipe are fine. With your cam and no lid on your airbox, Either pipe will help you run with the raptor. Raptors are not slow by any means though. They have you beat by 200cc's. Nothing to worry about though your Honda will out run it with these mods.

Its not that a 450r will out run anything , but if your losing to a raptor there is a problem , either with you or your bike . Even though the raptor has 210 cc more , does'nt meen a thing , a yfz 450 is really only 440cc and it will walk all over a raptor all day long , and according to yamaha has a greater top end , only 1mph but still it's "only" a 450 .

I want to make this clear, a Raptor with a pipe will out run a stock 450r. A stock raptor will not outrun a stock 450r. A 450r with a pipe should outrun a raptor with pipe. And I understand that cc's isn't what makes a motor faster than the other. I have been racing quads for 5 years. I have had plenty of bikes and have raced many bikes. If you think a stock 450r will outrun a raptor with a pipe, You have lost your mind.

Theres many on this site that have been racing for more then your 5 years, including myself, that wouldnt be caught dead on a raptor much less on the mx track. And the comment you made about the raptor with a pipe beating a stock R, maybe, doubt it but maybe, i guess it depends if mary poppins is on the R.:rolleyes:

my brother has a raptor with big gun exuast, filter and jet...when i was stock we were both with in a bike either way...so i dont know how you can say a stock 450 wont beat a piped raptor..

I wouldn't ride a raptor, never have, sure as hell wouldn't race one. I have been racing the A class for five years, I have been riding quads since I was nine and I am now 29. A buddy of mine had a raptor with a CT pipe. The bike was fast in drag races, nothing spectacular but fast. A stock 450r doesn't run any better than that. On an mx track the honda will turn faster lap times, It is by far the better bike. This guy said a raptor beat his stock honda and everybody wants to say he is crazy, he can't ride, his brake was on.........I said a piped raptor COULD or WOULD beat(not in every condition)a stock 450r in a drag race. I said out of his two pipe choices, either would work in conjunction with his HRC cam he was buying to outrun his friend's raptor. I am not a fan of the Raptor, I own a Walsh/pep 450r that is a superior bike to any raptor. I was just giving the guy the advise he asked for, not telling him he can't ride as many of you tried to imply.

And the comment about the Yamaha YFZ450 being faster than the raptor, No $hit. I can't believe how many people think the raptor is supposed to be faster because it is bigger. The YFZ is the fastest quad Yamaha makes.
