well yesterday i found out that my grandpa was in a bad car wreck. he was going down the highway and blacked out for about 2 seconds, swerved onto the other side of the high way and a semi truck smashed into the back of him. he is ok but has a few cracked ribs, 2 cracked vertibre in his back, a concussion, and some staples holding closed a big gash on his head. they had to cut him out of the car and air lift him to a hospital. he was driving his 110,000 dollar viper as well. the doc said that one of the things that saved him was the roll cage, and 1 second sooner it would have been the front of the car and hed be dead:( here are some picuters of his car, i think ill have some more later if u guys want me to post them.

he can walk but only baby steps, and at 70 years old it may take him a while to recooperate. but hes a mule, at 50 years old he was stronger and more in shape than most 20 year old guys.

Heh, i dont mean to flame, or mean anything bad by this, cause i hope ur pa is ok, and recoverd to collect some nice insurance soon.... but are u sure he just "blacked out" i think its kinda odd how driving a viper down the highway and u just black out, unless he has medical problems. Sure he wasnt just tryin to max that baby out and lost control a little ? It happends to the best of us :p

sorry bout the accident and hope he is well soon!! just one thing, i don't think that it was $110,000 since they are $90,000 loaded up... unless it has the Henessy Kit in in , then its prolly around 85-90 g's

i was with him the day he bought it and got the first ride in it. my grandpa told me he paid $110,000 for it, along with the guys at the dealer ship. he bought it a few years ago the price may have been higher when they came out. it was cool tho because there was a ferrari there to in the garage. my dad went and saw him in the hospital and he wants a new mustang now to replace the viper:p he says he needs to calm down on fast cars; after 2 vetts and 2 vipers.

they've been around since bout 92 and the price has increased not decreased and seeing how the base price is only 84 thou either a 110 thou viper would be a super viper or your pa got taken to the cleaners seriously bad

none the less hope he gets better soon

No, What he is trying to tell you is in your previous post you said that that has been around since 92 and it has not. They just completely redesigned the body style of it about 2 years ago. That is all he was trying to tell you

I hope your grandpa recovers ok! Looks like one heck of a wreck!

Speaking about the price tag, I agree 110k is way over the normal cost, but you guys have to consider if he bought one of the new designed vipers RIGHT when they came out. If thats the case, there is a good chance he did pay over MSRP. I've seen many high profile cars go for thousands over MSRP just so they could have the first one. I saw a Mustang Cobra R go for $15,000 OVER sticker at a Ford dealership. It was a bidding war between a few guys...and the dealership just sat back and smiled!
