True you don't have to re-jet, but for 3 bucks you can hit alot harder by jetting to a 150 main and tossing your lid. jmo. Z #6

4 hundy's run no matter what, there are tons of mods you can do to make em scream, keep it simple and enjoy. jetting is cheap and easy, all you need is a 17mm wrench and a 1/4" socket.
after I put a pipe on it ran good but I didn't rev like it should. I jetted to a 150 and it hit real hard, that should do it. again this is just my experience.. Z
ok thanks man but jetting is a problem for me thats why i just want to know if i can just put the slip on without jetting, will it run ok?

It will run fine, to rejet, turn off your gas, on the bottom of the carb is a big nut (17mm) remove that, a little gas will come out but that is just what is in the bowl. With a 1/4" socket reach straight up inside where the nut was and remove the stock jet, replace with the 150 (be sure not to over tighten, they are smaill and don't need to be real tight) replace big nut and turn on your gas.. Thats it !!! you just re-jetted your 400 ex!!!
you made it sound real easy
so the dealer charges $100 just to do that?
thanks a lot man i think i'm going to keep it with my stock jetting since its going to be ok.

ok ok ok! you dont HAVE to rejet, but its a damn good idea, running your quad lean, ESPECIALLY in winter is a BAD idea.. rejet, its only 5 bucks for a new main, and its not hard, i change my jets every morning before a race, u should be able to do it once for a new slip on
