I just bought a 88' frame. I also have a 86 swingarm on the way that was stretched to plus 5". Just wanted to confirm all years swingarm bolt up to all year frames?

Can I run rear shock straight from frame to swingarm and elimnate the linkage on the R?

Are the 400ex and R rear hubs the same?

(I am setting it up for asphalt drags and wont need any suspension travel)

NO fuggin way!

First to have a noLink rear end you need a Nolink frame
Call Mike Walsh, let me know if you need the #
Production Frames will not work unless you call us and we can convert it

Hubs from a 400ex won't fit nor will A-arms Mo matter how many times Joe races Pro said they will. He's wrong, that's why his name is Joe racer guy.

Also 86-87 swingers are different than the 88-89 bolt/motor in the way. You're going to figure it out soon!

Is this a Joke post?

Actually if suspension isn't an issue just send us all of the stuff and we can weld you the perfect Hard tail up!

Is this a joke? WTF? Anyway, this is real ****. I had a Drag 440 and eliminated the rear linkage as I want to do with the R. I am brand new to the R and dont even have the frame in my hands yet. I am piecing the quad together and it seems like a PITA trying to find out what parts work with what other year parts.

Ok, so I will need either 88 or 89 R swingarm, pivot bearings, and pivot bolt. I have a RPM -2 axle. Are all R carrier years the same? Thanks-Mike

There are a few difrences in the years
The rod on a 87-89 are longer so the top ends dont interchange from a 86 without changing the crank and such
The 400ex a arms will bolt up to a 250R but you need spacers to make this work.
A 400ex axle will work but you need 400ex hubs and the axle locking nut.
Swing arms are difrent but you can make them work with modifications.
The 86-87 swing arm length is I think (1 3/4 longer??) then the 88-89 ones. Plus its not a direct bolt on.
I cant remeber all the details becouse its been a while since I had my R. But The basics are there

Sorry about is this a joke thing, I was on two froums and I was thinking that this was part of the other one at the time of the post! Sorry about that smarty comment.

Your carrier size is the same, I also believe that you can utilize the 400 and 450r as well.

the 86 swinger will work you just have to cut the ears off the 86-87 motor mount that goes through the swinger bolt and it will work.

You can bolt the shock the way you want but you might need to have a custom short length shock shaft like maybe a marvin shaw shock.

I think you need a rear shock regardless, it will help the bike hook up . i think without a shock at all the bike will bounce alot and not hook up as well

what if u used an 86 motor and swing and motor mount on a 88-89 frame with all 86 motor mounts?i have a 86 motor in a 04 arens frame with 88 swing just eliminated the 86 style rear mount

all I did was cut the ears off the motor mount like beerock said and everything worked fine. why does everyone make this so complicated?

thats not the hard part the hard part is trying to make a 88 swing work on a 86 frame and understanding the differences in the frames and motors

either weld in a crossbard w/ the motormounts for 88 swinger on 86, or just use a spacer to run the 86 swinger on the 88, or...like stated...cut off the ears, weld lower/upper motormounts to the crossbar

my project is an 86 but its getting a crossbar welded in so I can run any yr swinger on it, just not sure if I wanna make it so the extra mounts utilize spacers or not, will post pics when its done...1 of these days:ermm:
