jetting w/ dr. d

I just put on a Dr. D slip on, to go along with the HRC kit. Is the 185 main going to be good enough? It seemed to start a little easier after I put on the Dr. D (if that helps with anything).

a 170 maybe where you end up, but a 185 is safe. we are running a 180 with a DR. D and a cam, runs like a skeert cat:macho

I didn't know you had a Dr. D Pappy. How do you like it compared to the other pipes you've tried. So far I'm happy that its not as loud as I thought it would be.:D

Just took it for a quick spin up the road, felt pretty good. I did notice a little smoke coming out of the pipe after I shut the bike off. Is this a sign of being too rich, or just normal? I've never noticed that before with just the hrc endcap.

i dont have a dr. d, but one of the R's im building does. thats the fun part of building quads, ive always got different set ups coming in:D

Hey there kwatts400, I was wondering what jet kit did you buy when you purchased your DR.D slip-on? Did you get a Dr.D jet kit or did you get a different type of jet kit. Just wondering because I'm going to get the DR.D exhaust for mine too and I didn't know what jet kit to get once I get it. And how's the power now that you have it on?

I have the hrc kit in mine, so I have the hrc needle and 185 main. I have a 180 main jet somewhere in my garage, I may try that out. I really haven't ridden it other than down the street in my developement. Can't wait to go riding with the knew setup.:macho

I also have the HRC kit in mine too. But when I hear you guys talking about all this 185 main and 180 main I get lost really quick. So if you don't mind would break it down to me in lamens terms as to what all this MAIN stuff means. I have the slightest idea what I'm running. All I know is that I have the HRC kit and that's it. Any idea what the main is when running the HRC kit?

Its the main jet, if you have the hrc kit, then you probably have the 185 main jet in your carb already. Thats what the hrc kit comes with. Take a look at the instructions that came in your hrc kit (or owners manual), you will probably understand it a little better than if I tried to explain it to you over the net. I only know the very basics of jetting.
