Anyone have any experience with the GNC "Pro Performance" line of body building powders? I just want to boost my energy to get a couple more sets in the gym......how about you????

Just got the Pro Performance Creatine Burst with 10 Gram craetine per serving, fruit punch flavor.
Also bought the Whey Protein with 60grams of protein per serving.

anybody tried it yet? results?

I used AST Michronized Creatine and it made me feel like crap...no positive results at all...just my experience though.

cool, it`s kinda pricey if bought in the store, but online prices are cut less than half, so thats nice.

I use the whey protein, good luck tryin to chug it down tho. I haven't noticed a huge difference but I know its very good to take after working out to repair your muscles and to build more. I've dramatically changed my diet and work out a lot, and i've gained weight (my waist is smaller, so its got to muscle im gaining). So i guess its helping. I'm continuing to take it, just tastes like crap, actually like ground up fish parts :blah: I work in a pharmacy so i know Protein is protein, so I don't think that there is really a quality to it. Just like different brands of aspirin. all the same stuff, just maybe different strengths.

What protein you use depends on what your goals are.
A couple of comments from what you wrote.

Protein: 60 grams of whey at one shot will not be absorbed fully.
Biological Value (what your body utilizes) goes way down especially with whey protein when you consume large amounts at one shot due to it's fast release profile. Mixed blends are usually your best bet as they have differing release rates, remain in the blood longer and have different amino acid profiles.

Creatine: You body holds about 2 to 2 1/2 grams of creatine at any one time. So while the marketing gurus of the world try to make you believe that more is better, 10 grams of creatine at one time is a waste and a strain on your body.

Well, that just shows you that a pharmacy isn't a good place to learn nutrition. Protein comes in MANY different qualities and types (mainly digestive rates). Go grab some "On protein" from GNC. It tastes awesome, has more protein, and mixes easy. It's the best one I've tried from GNC. Bodybuilding.com has tons of proteins that are even better.

Steve, are you sure the body only holds about 2 grams of creatine? I've heard alot that it holds around 70-80 on average. Also, creatine shouldn't be much of a strain on anything but the liver, only if you dont consume enough water (same with a high protein diet).

and what facts do you have to back that statement up?

If I had a jug of their protein sitting beside me I could point out some things. GNC's multi-vitamins are actually very good and one of the best. But their protein powders and creatines are low quality protein and creatine. They generally dont mix well or taste good either.
I'm not a nutrition specialist, but I know a little more than most people. If you want facts, get off you *** and find them  jfwy

ok first off. i guarantee i have logged more hours in the gym and on that site than you. also pretty sure i have a better body and more muscle than you. with that said, dont go dising another brand or saying this is better than that while not knowing why. but being i dont know what IM talking about i happen to have some on protein and gnc protein sitting right here. after looking over them the on does indeed have a few miligrams more of amino acids. probably not enough to make a difference but it is higher.
creatine, is just that. there is nothing added or other things that can be higher. now maybe ya can quit readin and go to the gym to try to see results of ur own and form your own conclusions on products rather than just what others say about them :scary:

Check out the ingredients, the On should come out ahead. I BELIEVE it has high quality whey protein. I doubt it's a huge amount better.
There is no doubt there are many different forms of creatine. Some is pure, some is not. There's micronized, non micronized, and others that I dont remember the names of.

That's really cool you have more muscle and have spent more time in the gym and on the site. I've been working out for a year now, so I actually do have a few results of my own. I went to the gym today, bi's and back. I'm not really in the mood these days to argue on forums anymore nor have much time. Good luck with BB. Also, the whole "get off your *** and find them" comment was a joke if you didn't realize it.

Stocktires,

Hope this helps.
A person's ability to store creatine can be compared to the gas tank of your car. Once your creatine tank is full, it will not hold any more, no matter how much more you consume. The human body has 100 to 115 grams of creatine stored in the form of creatine phosphate or phosphocreatine. This stored form differs from the creatine you buy at GNC. What I was trying to say is that your body can only hold 2 to 2 ½ grams of a creatine that you buy from GNC at any one time. The reason is that you burn about 2 grams throughout the course of the day due to working out, walking etc.. This may not sound like much but it equates to you keeping a full tank of creatine and holding about 2% more creatine than normal because you are always replenishing what you lost. This can result in noticible size, strength and even weight gain. Some extreme athletes under serious duress (Olympic, Football etc) may be able to consume and utilize 3-5 grams a day because they are burning that much more during the day. 10 grams is marketing hype.

in the end once you get built up on creatine you will be pulling muscles more because it puts all the water out of the muscle and replaces it with that shiit.

Cardio Stack

Not true. Pulls and strains could be a result of not consuming enough water but not in the manner in which you described. Creatine happens to pull extracellular (outside your muscle cells)water into the cell as it is transported via insulin and sometimes other variables.
That is what gives you the pumped look and feel. More water inside the cell. This results in a host of benefits including protein systhesis, less cell death etc...
However, for people racing long distance (for more than a half hour) I would not recommend creatine. Clinical data done on marathon runners and horses suggests that endurance actually goes down in those supplementating with creatine for a number of reasons, one of them being the weight gain from the creatine.

cardio stack knows what hes talking about :)

before when i was taking no suppliments i was maxing around 185. i was lifting about 4 times a week but didnt really study up on body building or know what i was doing basically. hit the gym up hard for 2 months (april and may) and my bench went up to 215. i was then supplimenting every now and then with gnc products. over the summer i was just lifting for stamina and looks. not pushing it hard just trying to tone. i would bench 205 5x3 with no maxing. then from september to april i hit it up hard. followed a good routine supplimented like i should have and everything soared. my arms went from 14 inches to 17 inches. bench went to 275. everything was great. now im back in my maintaining period. monday im goin hardcore again :D

that was the workout i used and seen great results with it. people thought i was on steroids

whats the bench routine?

Dave400ex

I'm thinking if I would start taking some of that stuff and get in the gym I could be a monster. I am naturally strong for sure, as an 8th grader weighing 195 I benched 285 and was powercleaning 250. Now 3 years later I was benching 300 and cleaning 265, until I blew my knee out powercleaning. So I'm a bit worried to lift hard again, but I want to get in shape.

Three sites that I use that are way better and cheaper than GNC are bulknutrition (www.bulknutrition.com), nutrition wholesalers (www.nutritionwholesalers.com), and supplement express (www.supplementexpress.com). Nutrition wholesalers is the cheapest, but I really like Syntax's Nectar protein and supplement express is the cheapest for that. When it is mixed, it is the consistancy of water and tastes really good.
