I was wondering what is the best pipe for xc for the 300ex. I am looking at the sparks x-5 or the HMF with the white bros. head pipe? Suggestions?

so did you give up on the blaster i geuss?

i would go with the new quiet HMF and the WB header. io wouldnt even consider the sparks, you'll never get thru tech with it

I think I'm going to sell the blaster. Emissions are getting bad around here and the 300 is a more competitant bike. I will still race a few locals and then go to the nats.

Not really emissions, just the local tracks are trying to keep the pollution of the 2-strokes down, and would rather have 4-strokes there. It's pretty gay, but its the only xc series I know of in Va.

The Sparks racing pipe is the best pipe for the 300, hands down. Although, unless you have some motor mods that crank it up in the cc's, I would stick with an X-4. Granted, it is a little louder than some, but it's still quieter than pipes like the Pro Circuit T-4.

man dont blow your money on a sparks, you'll just have to replace it so you can race gncc's. pro circit makes a "type 496" that is supposed to be 96 db, HMF also makes a new quiet one, check out thier site. of all the pipes i know of, those are the two i would be looking at

beny, the only thing i would worry about with would be the 102 db limit, i beleive blaster12048 is planning on running the gncc's end of this season or starting in the 06 season

Bradley- Have you tested the Sparks x-4 with the spark arrestor and all disks? Or was it the race version? I haven't checked mine but it doesn't seem very loud compared to other pipes I've heard.

I guess theres' been a rumor about a Sparks quiet core but we'll see if that ever happens:rolleyes: :eek2:

never tested a sparks, but raced with dave maccarol who used an x-4 (i think?closed end kind, no disk) and it was noticably louder than my 350ex with WB e series header and PC silencer

MY POWER TECH 4 by MBRP Exhaust is in great shape after 1 full season of GNCC racing and still read at 99 dbs at the Ironman.

i wouldn't give up on the blaster if you plan on racing. the motor's are cheaper to mod and are still reliable. it's a durable quad too, and if you have an 03' with the good brakes their hard to beat. mine dones't have much done to it and beats all the 300ex's at the locals.

if your die hard on the 300ex i'd look into a Big Gun Race Series full exhaust.

thats what I done but I had a mega max and got tired of it and used the header with the hmf. there is no diference in the pipes.
