This is a bad machine. If I had to buy a YFZ, this is the one i would need. Although I have a 450R, I would rather have the John Deere in the backround . JK, here it is, sorry the picks are a little dark.

Are those ELKA shocks on Tracy's bike? Seems like several have switched from AXIS.

I rode it when it had about 5 minutes on the motor. Umm, not impressed. The seat is like a peice of plywood, the front shocks feel like they are seized or something, and it wasnt running right at all. I fooled around with his carb for a few minutes and seemed to get better. Its a nice quad though, looks nice as he!!. I have yet to have a race with him...actually i cant wait!

Take the airbox lid off and the baffle..makes a difference....

Also, just an exhaust on the yfz makes a huge difference....

you have to keep it looking that way dude. I have close to 200 hours on my black R and it looks like the day i picked it up, besides the scratches.

THe YFz will run VERY nicely with other 450's. unlike what other will have you belive the 450r will not walk away from you.
Take out the baffle and throw away the airbox lid. jet her up a bit and your flying. put on a better exhaust and shell strecth your arms about 2" The yfz is an exciting bike that will get your attention when you push that throttle no matter what some people say.

i love how when the r riders always talk shat about tinsy things on the yfz. first off, so what the seats stiff. I'd rather have a hard seat than a slower, less visually appealing bike. and last time i checked the shocks are adjustable.

if you take the baffle out and the air box lid you mid as well do the cam mod the free one. if you go over to bluetraaxx or yfzcentral you can find all the info. the only thing that he would need to buy is the jetts. it opens the quad right up my dad did it on his 450 and it ran alot better and had a little more nut.

Its weird, When i race all of my buddies with their YFZ's, were exactly the same till 3rd, then the yahama looks like its going to pull away, gets a quad length away, but then when we both get into 5th, its all dead even again. Top top end...The yahama might be 1-3 mph faster, hardly even noticable. I have noticed this pattern with every YFZ i have ran with. But nobody does 80 on a track or through the woods so it comes down to whatever quad your more comfortable on. The seat sold me when i bought my quad. I went in there wanting a YFZ so bad, but when i sat on both of them i asked myself..."Do I really want to be sitting on this thing for 6 hours at a time?"

I agree totally, except that If you get a YFZ for MX you are never on the seat. And if you are an XC'er then pad the seat up! No big deal. My bud got his done at the local upholstery shop and it feels great. Not me I rarely sit on the seat!

well imo, if ur not man enough to deal with a stiff seat, u don't deserve to have the bike  jk, but seriously, you people act like they have razor blades embedded in the seat. :ermm:

thers nothing wrong with the seat on the 05's.they fixed all the little thing's on the yfz450 now it is a perfect honda killing machine. and who realy cares if you sit on the seat or not?

Hey I LOVE both bikes its just sometimes people say the dumbest things. If you are getting beat by either machine, its you and not the bike;)

The seat dosent have razor blades in it, its just the plywood above the foam :p . The yami in this thread, the 05', has the goddam most hardest seat EVER! Not like your sitting on the seat in racing right!? Wrong, your sitting half on the seat and half on the gastank!! AHHHHHHH that hurts if you catch my drift. And whats this about not being on the seat in motocross? I dont know what kind of racing your doing, but in mx, you are on the seat a great deal of the time. I"ll be back later, i have to go to the doc to get my hemmoroids checked out. JK, but the YFZ would be great with a Honda seat. I wonder if anyone can fabricate that? Hmm, sounds like a cool idea.

The plywood is invisable. But its there! nah, it just feels that way, thats all. and what i meant about sitting on the tank. the only way i'm comfortable on a yahama is if i'm sitting half on the tank and half on the "plywood". Yahama sacrificed comfort for looks by doing that. They made the tank part of the seat, that sux.

ohh... u mean like a dirtbike? the only time im on the seat is in a corner or seat bouncing a jump, and the yfz seat is just awesome for mx, its perfect, a big soft couch cushion might make xc and trail riding more comfortable but i love the rock hard seat, so easy to move on
