Okay, dad's rebuilding his 400ex and I would like to know who makes the most reliable, bang-for-the-buck and peppy 416 kits? This is probably a REALLY general and broad question...But any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am getting a 416 kit from C&D towards the end of Jan. I am planning a full HMF, 13:1 piston, stage 2 cam and head porting and polishing. I would give colby a call and talk to him (308)696-7805.

yep, try a search for more info. i honestly would build it yourself. i bought the parts through C&D and they treated me great. most tend to recommend the JE or Ross piston along with the thin cosmetic flex steel head gasket. most also run a hotcam. however, others don't. the hotcams just are cheap, but provide good results. plan on buying a cam to match your bike and riding style. i would NOT even touch the piston if you weren't adding a cam. remember to rejet and buy a service manual. it will take you through step by step.
