I usually use a big pipe wrench and wrap the axle nut with a handtowel to keep it lookin nice an shiny

Git er done

Throw it away and get a RAD, Durablue, or LSR regular Pinchbolt locknut... Worth EVERY penny and its not expensive if you dont get the anti-fade model...

On the same subject... I am replacing my axle bearings and I have broke the axle nut loose that is on the left but I can't get the one on the right to break loose for nothing. I have tried heating it up and still can't get it to break loose. Any suggestions? OH, and it is a 02 400ex.

The outside nut portion of the axle nut is reverse threaded, try spinning it in the other direction. I am sure it's corroded so it's going to take some foce.

You're actually "tightening" the nut down in respect to the threads between the two pieces to get down to the C-clip retainer underneath. once the clip is removed, The the nut will come off.

If i'm barking up the wrong tree here, please accept my apologies. The reverse threads are what gave me grief when I changed my axle out.

I used a hammer and chissel. Worked great, and yes you'll trash the stocker, but who puts one of those POS's back on....:eek2:
