alright, its about time to replace my stock rear tires on my 400ex. i know i am going to go with kenda klaws, but what size??? i am keeping the stock rims and the stock front tires for now. should i go with the 18" or 20" tire. i ride pretty much everything, but i love railing it in to corners sideways. i am thinking the shorter tire would help me power slide more easily since the quad will be lower. but would the 18" tire look and handle funny with my stock 21"(i think its 21") tires in the front. i have elka zps front shocks so that helps in the leveling out of my quad. the rear shock is stock. give me your input. thanks.

first of all, if you get a 18" tire, its more than likely 8" wide, and you will have to get new rims, too...i dont think youll find any 18X10 tires....

18x8 are excellent mx tire.
20X10 is good all around trail/track tire

i prefer a 18X8 on the track, but today it was too damn muddy and sloppy and i had put my 20s back on....

20s will give you the excellent ground clearance for trails, and youll have a higher speed on the top end.

18s will take your clearnce away, give you more low end, and take your top end speed away, and you will rev out a little quicker.

as for 21s n the front and 18s in the back, it dont look stupid, i ran 22s front and 18s rear for a little while today, it worked and hooked up great....

if i were you, i would get 22s for the front and 20s for the rear. maxxis razr2 or holeshot hd these are some though as nails, indestrucible tires... :macho

alright time for bed, back to school in the A.M.

dude, i don't think you know how the tire size thing works. you can put an 18" tire on a 9" rim. lets say you have a 18-11-9 tire. 18 is the height of the tire, 11 is the width of the tire, and 9 is the rim size. just fyi for you.

thanks for the other information though!!!

kenda makes a 9" rim 18" tire, but in ur case i would go with 20" rears, still get great slides and still have good ground clearance. Then you wouldnt have to change ur sproket sizes to keep what ur speeds the same. As for the front tires lookin cheezy with 18" rears, it wouldnt. Looks fine and u cant really notice it when u sit down.

Just for reference kendas "18 inch" tire is almost the same diameter as stock honda 450R "20inch" rear tires. Holeshot "18 inchers" look real small and are smaller than the "18 inch" klaws. Tire sizes are rarely correct.

thanks for all of the information guys. sounds like a 20" tire would be my best choice. plus, i like the idea of two sets of wheels and tires. probably get a set of beadlocks for race wheels too. thanks again.
