all I got is a picture, thats why im asking, Im looking to buy an old s-10 to be my quad hauler, because it wont fit in the trunk of my neon, Id rather have the 4.3 over the 2.8, more power and better miledge. It will make or break the deal.

it is a 4.3 for sure. a 2.8 is a 60 degree v6 and a 4.3 is a 90 degree v8

looks identical to the 4.3 in my '91 s-10 so i am betting that its a 4.3

as much as i like s-10's, i see you have a 400ex so i would look at a bigger truck for a quad hauler unless your also using a trailer. stock ones will fit in the bed OK, but any wider than that and the wheel wells turn into a PITA

the 4.3 will look just like a 350 small block with 2 cylinders chopped off they are basicly just that the 2.8 is a pos hard to work on and hard to find parts for but it should tell you what the engine is on the radiator support

its a 4.3 , you can tell by the width of the intake manifold and the way some of the smaller components are set up on it.
if it was the 2.8 you would see a little more room around the sides of the engine and in the engine compartment in general.
