HRC Kit ????????

Is there an HRC kit for the 400EX or something close? Or maybe just an HRC type endcap? Im just looking for a little boost for the wife w/o doing a pipe...

Nope, there is no HRC exhaust for the 400EX. The HRC kit that folks use on the EX is actually for an XR, and consists of piston, cam and some other goodies.

As far as what to do with the exhaust, I think you can get a "hot tip" for it from Dennis Kirk or Rocky Mountain or get a slip on. You can mod your stock muffler like I've done, but you have to cut open the can in the front, remove a chamber and weld it back up. Its a lot of work but worth the power to maintain the quietness of the stock exhaust.... someone on here may have already modded one that they may be willing to sell, due to a new quad or a aftermarket exhaust "upgrade". If you like it quiet, I would suggest using the stock arrestor with it.
