Anyone here know where and what I should expect to pay for a 2005 motor and trans for my 2000- 400ex

i have a 2002 400ex motor with a 440 kit and tc cam in perfect condition for 1000

I expect the only place to find an '05 engine would be Service Honda.

why do you want the motor, is yours blown, or do you simply want reverse? if you want reverse, you might be able to buy the individual pieces and come out alot cheaper

My 2000 400ex is ready for a rebuild a my friends 2005 400ex is much faster than mine and my other friends 440ex , a lot of it probably has to do with the transmission change in 2005.

I figure that if the price is in the ball park that it would be money well spent for ( reverse, shift points, and faster engine, plus its all brand new )

But it all depends on the cost.

If your buddy's 440ex gets beat by a stock '05 400ex, something is not right with it...or he just doesn't know how to ride.

I'd say just sell your EX and buy a Z/KFX or go with a 450.

i dont think he should sell his 400ex for a z400 .. it would be a stupid move and would only waste money.. if you do deciede to get rid of the 400ex i would never buy a z400 to have a extra 1-2 horses...

i would check around on ebay, for an 05 engine. talk to your dealer about the parts youwill need then come on the internet and get the best deals you can find...

I was just saying that's what it sounds like he wants to do...he was talking about trading for something.
