i had my rear shock on my 250r rebuilt with an elka rebuild kit. When i put it back on i had my adjustable strut on upside down and it was hitting the skid plate not allowing the shock to extend all the way. now i replaced it with the actual dog bone and it now has an *** load of free sag. When it was not extending all the way it had only about 2-3 in. of free sag. Now that ive got it right its got 5 in. of free sag. Is this ok? I have dual rate axis up front and am running XC.

Sounds to me like its the same as mine. I've always had a bunch of free sag with my rear conversion. All I can say is hang on in the whoops !!!!

We will have to go set both our shocks up when I get my GT thunder revalve back. Just go big and buy an axis to match those fronts, you got the cash!

Does your bike sit level? If not you have threaded preload and can adjust the ride height up. With the conversion on the stock rear shock it will have quite a bit of free sag.

Well the first thing you want to make sure is your quad is leveled on
the ground, you are looking for a frame clearance of:
MX: 7 1/2 to 9 inches
XC: 8 1/2 ot 10 inches
Rec riding 9 to 10 inches

When the riders is sitting on the quad it must be leveled, if the front
is higher than the rear he will be loosing traction at the front and the
rear wheel will tend to slipp when cornering and if the rear higher than
the front the quad will dive down when cornering.

To adjust the ride height of the quad you must preload the shocks to
bring it higher and unscrew it down to lower it.

It is normal to bottom out on a MX track on a couple of big jumps, this
means you are using the full travel of your suspension.

i have it level. i think there both at 9.25 when im sitting on it. i was just wanting to know if this amount of free sag is ok. ive just never felt any other rear shock have as much.
