I have heard ppl put cr250 reed cages in a 250r.... what it the benefits of this? and the downfalls? If the cr250 reed caged are as good as eveybody say they are, then would it be better if i got a boysen cr250 reed cage? i am thinking of gettin a cr intake... i know the cr carbs are 38mm stock, and i would get a cr boot... carb... and cage.

the cr250 reed cage is good I use to run it, I run a cr250 rad valve now. the rad valve is more responsive then the cr250 reed cage but I feel the cr250 has a larger opening so the bike will scream a little more then with the rad valve.

the rad valve or reed cage are from a 86-98 cr250 Use a 96 or 98.

rad valve part # is rad 02b

so, you would recommend the stock cr250 reed cage? or a aftermarket rad valve... aka, v-force, boysen?

im kind of tossed up between the cr250 reed cage and the rad valve. if you want a mroe responsive motor go with the rad valve, with a little sacrifice on top end. if not go with the cr reed cage. and youll have a little less responsiveness in low end but mroe top end

im lookin for more bottom end, now my next question is... are we talking about a cr250 rad valve, or a trx 250r rad valve?

both cages i was talking about are the cr 250 oem reed cage and rad valve

go with the rad valve if you want more bottom.

also, later on you can have the cr250 rad valve ported so you can move more then the reed cage later on if you feel like it.

Would you want to put boysen reeds on the stock cr cage or not.

yeesh, diggin up old threads are we?

i dont think it would hurt to run boysen reeds on a stock cr cage, are the stock cr reeds stainless like stock R reeds are?

I'm using a stock '98 CR cage with Boysen reeds. Works great and very responsive! Also makes my 38mm carb fit alot better too!
