A buddy and I are rebuilding our 400ex'S he is going .040 over with a 11:1 piston and I am going .020 over with a 11:1.

His head gasket is .007 thinner than mine does anyone think he will gain a ton more compression (and power) than me since his head gasket is thinner?

He probably has a head gasket for an XR400 and I know you have one for the 400ex. The difference is insignificant really... The XR head gasket raises the compression something like .03 or something... Plus, remember that those head gaskets are gonna end up being thinner than they are now because they have to crush in place to seal...

His is for a 400ex, it came with the piston , it is a cometic number straight from the cometic web site for the 400ex. But you don't think it will make a big diff from the one you gave me?

I have read alot about the crf450 cam chain swap on here and I think I am going to do that, what say you?

Since you didn't use the gasket you gave me, what did you use?
I take it you had to use a bigger one since yours is a 400ex?

The gasket that I used was an overbore size gasket for my 426. The stock head gasket will work with the 426 but I didnt want to use it anyway. I got an overbore size gasket from East Coast ATV and used that. That is an original honda gasket that you have directly out of a honda gasket kit and it will work for you...
