Retro- fit reverse

Does anyone have any idea if you can retro-fit the reverse off a 05 400 EX on a older 400EX? The motors look the same. Anyone? Thanks Joe. OCCRA # 555.

im not sure, but when i took apart my engine i seen there was a spot for a reverse gear, so maybe?

I think that the engine cases are different, more room on the 05 fot the reverse gear.
