Hey guys i seem to be having some starting issues with my 300.. The thing wont turn over.. Sometimes it will but more than likely wont.. Could it possibly be a bad starter button?? I hooked up a voltmeter to the battery and its right where it should be.. Any suggestions?

check for any loose wire connections and jump the starter directly off the battery to see if it works. if all this checks out then it could be burned or corroded contacts in the start button.

how do you jump the starter directly to the battery?? I should also throw in that the solenoid clicks so i dunno.. Sorry im kinda new to all this.. Also im rebuilding a 300 so the Starter button is in near new condition that i bought i took it apart and all looks fine.. I appreciate the help im trying to learn as much as possible!!

take one battery jumper cable and hook it up to the positive battery teminal and take the other end and touch the starter where the starter cable screws to it. if it cranks then the starter is good.
if the selinoid is clicking then check to make sure the nuts on the post are tight and that any fuse that may be on there arent blown, if it still clicks then your your selinoid is more than likely bad. only other thing that would make it click like that is a weak or bad battery.

Alright i got it to turnover by running the starter right off the battery.. So this tells me my solenoid must be bad? I checked all the connections and they are fine..

yeah it sounds like the selinoid then. i thinmk they are around $30 from the dealer and they usually have them instock.

Yeah that sounds like the solenoid. This is probably the cheapest place to buy it from if you can wait a few days:

BUMP.. Anyone? I get power/continuity all the way through the wires til i get to the ones that connect to the solenoid.. Its just as something is telling it not to open/close whatever it does?

in my old 300 there were two like sand paper things in the starter that rub to make it start see if those are bad and need to be replaced thats what i did and after that it started like a champ

Ill check it out.. The thing is tho it starts. I start it by bypassing the solenoid and going from the battery right to the starter..
