i had a 406 motor with a stage 2 hot cam but i sold it to a buddy for a pretty penny with his stock motor also. now i am either thinking of going with a stock bore wiseco 11:1 compression piston with a stage 2 hot cam. or go with a 416 with either 10:8.1 or 11.1 compression piston and stage 2 hot cam. my 406 was only 10:6.1. i really want to build the motor as cheap as i can but i am willing to spend some extra money. but i don't see how there would really be that much or a power difference between a stock bore 11:1 or a 416 bore 11:1 with the same cam. I mean i have seen stock bore 400ex with 13:1 compression and a good cam take some poorly built 440's. But for another reason i want to build it cheap is becasue i plan on saving for a duncan or CT 440 kit

I've got an '03 400ex with stock bore and an 11:1 compression wiseco piston, with a stage 2 hot cam. It has a ton of tork and plenty of power. I've taken 416s and 426s . The high compression piston with the cam is a great inexpensive way to get power out of your ex.

i like mine not bad at all, i had a megamaxx on there and it felt like it did a lil, then i put a hmf on there and it freakin ripped, so ya do it, plus with the better piston, and compression, u can do more.

I use high octane pump gas and haven't had any problems with my ex.

I use 93 and 110 octane mixed half and half, but I've used 93 before and it runs fine.
