I know lots of people who use the stocker but Im not sure if you'll make it thru a race or not? You'll have to try and see:ermm:

Might as well get the oversized. Its nice not having to fill up as often. I thought about doing it eventually cause i hate having to stop on the trails and fill up alot. Id say go for it. Its not gonna hurt much.

I has an IMS. My handle bars kept hitting the tank, and I kept hitting the bulge. Ouch!

Kim I was planning on getting the IMS tank myself, you might need to get a +1 or +2 steering stem to clear the tank. You probably could run on a stocker but he** better safe than sorry.

Kim-- the Gilman guys said to get the bigger tank. Is alot funner not having to worry about running low on fuel and saves alot of tiime. Do agree with the sterring stem might have to be raised some to clear the tank. Momma B

im poor white girl racing so if a can get away with out the steering stem i will for sure~ guess ill have to just wait and see~ i use dirtbike bars that are straight so that might make it more of an issue~i dont know~ thanks so much everyone for your help and advice~ im definatly getting a larger tank~ like mom said its much more fun if i dont have to worry about runnin out of gas!http://midwest-racing.com/8-22-04%20MegaJam/P8218077.jpg ill start out with leaving the bark busters off~see if that helps then if thats not enough i have long arms and could push my bars forward~ thanks a bunch again for all your help!! bluez440 ill be in touch by the end of this week!! thanks for the links!!

I put the ims tank on my 400ex, with the 250r bend renthals there is no clearance problems ,but i had a few issues with the brush guards but all i had to do was raise the guards and now there is no problems. although from what I've seen no two ims tanks are alike, they all seem to fit differently.

Kim-- Michael said he could lengthen the stock steering stem for $30.00 if you could ups them to us. This way you would have nothing to worry about. Momma B

I would strongly recommend the IMS tank. After an hour and a half my 400 is bone dry. You should be able to finish the race on a full tank with the bigger tank.

I thought the IMS tank sucked. I put it on mine, the +1 stem rubbed it pretty bad so I sold it, never even put gas in it.

I now have a Clarke tank that doesn't have that God alfull bulge on it and I"m very pleased with it. NO more pitting at a XC race. I dont' even fill it all the way up and still finish with a gallon of gas.

But it costs about $35 ta fill it up with race gas....:eek2: Same amount as my got dam truck....

i didnt notice my 400ex using anymore gas with a 416...maybe with a carb, porting and stuff it would use more

my 463 used less gas than my 426 did. just thought I would say that!

I think the Clarke tank is much better too! Komatsu kid (Jason) has the Clarke and its a nice tank. Maybe a pain in the *** to install but worth it>
