I just changed the rear pads in my 400ex caliper and tried to put it back on but the mounting plate has moved over too much and appears frozen. What is a good procedure the get it moved back?

if you dont have a heated garage, maybe you could try and warm the caliper mount up, then slide it onto the frozen part, you may have to do it a few times. Just a thought.

Frozen as in "ice' frozen or frozen as in corroded?

They are probally corroded, they need to be greased about every 6 months. Do all three calipers, I like to use antiseize.

You can try soaking them with PB Blaster for a day or two, if that doesn't work you will probally have to buy new calipers.

Wow! What kind of riding do you do? I replaced the pads on my trike this past summer after I purchased it. I was able to get the bolts out without a problem.

You may want to try getting an allen head socket for a ratchet. That will give you a bitter grip and more leverage than one of those keys.

Well I just bought the bike and it really doesnt have that many hours on it but I cant get either stud out! The pads are spaced far enough apart but the mount needs to be moved back and it doesnt look like theres any grease in there at all!

I grease mine up everytime i change pads, and i also use anti-seize on them! I dont see y u couldn't use a heat-gun or a tourch, and just buy bracket the holds the slid mounts, I wouldnt think u would have to buy a caliper!,. Mabey seals if u get it really hot! Just somthing i would try, But Jeff is right, I beleive 100% in PB blaster, alot better than wd-40!
