Is it an EX conversion? if so you can use the stock ex air boot. Make sure the boot to the motor is for a YZ 426 the 450 boot puts it at too much of an angle. First make sure the carb is on the motor and tight. Then put the airbox boot on the Carb and tighten it down. Then push the airbox down and tighten it up. The airboot will pinch some on the Frame but not enough to starve the carb. of air. Make sure you plug the hole in the air boot.

On mine I knotched out or bath tubbed out the frame in that area
and used a radiator hose for a truck that had aprox a 45 deg
angle.
Than tubed it down to the air box.
Nice straight flow no crimps, all clamps and carb are tight.
Are you useing a thumb throttle with the stock yz carb?
If so what throttle cable are you useing?

No use the stock 400EX airbox the boot is part of the airbox no cutting or modifying needed.
For the carb to motor boot use a YZ 426 boot.

As far as a cable you can use a 400ex thumb throttle with a baldwin motorsports cable or you can use a yfz 450 thumb throttle with the yfz450 cable

Yep worked fine on my bike, mine is not a conversion but is still 400ex geometry. JB racing only uses the 400ex airbox setup on all there conversions CRF or YZ. Need any other help just PM or e-mail me.

22,
What type of frame are you using?

My frame was built by JB Racing, its the standard 4130 chromoly tubing. From the motor back the bike 400ex geometry sorta, and the front end is 250R. The bike pretty much accepts 400 ex parts, plastic etc, while the Front has a 250R Laeger Protrax +3+1 front end.
