My clutch cable arm rubs on my sparks x6 headpipe on my 400ex. Do any of you experience this and whats a good fix?

There was a thread on this not too long ago...

What I used is a wire sheath kit that I got from Summit that they use to cover plug wires around headers on hot rods. Summit or Jegs has them. Also if you want you could get a roll of heat tape from Autozone, Napa, etc. and wrap it with that. Some have suggested Aluminum foil but I would only use that as a last resort...

Will it still be ok rubbing on it and wont it rub th etape right off?

No the heat tape shouldnt come off, but I havent used it. It is header wrap that they use on header pipes. Make sure you wrap it tight and you should be cool.

I got up early and took care of it. Unfortunately I work at a Hospital in the Pharmacy so this was one of my assigned holidays to work... Its cool though, I got new years day off which I definitely need. Plus, my family isnt eating until 5pm so I wont be too late after all. Anyway, Merry Christmas and have a good one man...

you are talking about the arm and not the cable right??? i would take the pipe off. then install the header first making sure it goes in straight when you tighten the 4 nuts down. you can kind of angle it up a tad bit but of course the 4 nuts will pull it back down a bit. then after the header is installed, install the silencer. apply anti seize on the header/silencer connection.

Oh my bad man, I didnt know you were talking about the clutch arm and not the cable. I just didnt read carefully enough. I really dont know how to fix that. I know the early E-series pipes rubbed, but I wasnt aware the sparks had a problem. My sparks doesnt rub at least so I dont know...

maybe i worded it wrong. you really don't bend anything. just have the rear of the header facing farther up when you bolt the nuts down. mine is really close after i got it thermally coated on the exterior of the pipe. i know it doesn't rub on a normal basis, but it may have nipped it a time or two.

Ill try rerouting it.
