correct me if I'm wrong, but you bore your cylinder to 120 over, leaving no more bores and also it brings it to a true 250cc not a 270cc..

yes thats true but its called the 270 kit cuz its a 250ex and its plus 20 cc's so its considered a 270cc instead a 250

no, that is not right. a stock 250ex is like a 230 or something and when you bore it 20cc's more, it puts it at a true 250.. theres no 270 about it, unless they put a bigger aftermarket sleeve and piston kit in it, then they could make it a 270

He's just trying to justify the 250EX name, which no one will be able to. I don't understand why Honda does that, it should be a 230EX (actual 229cc's) instead of the 250. Same with the 300ex which is actually only a 282 (around there) I believe.

toadz40:: how have your ugly a arms been? i got +2+1 arms for my 300ex, and they're been great except there is a slight bend from the lower heim joint, they got 9 mx races on them, i was just curious to how yours were holding up, and is our lifetime warrenty still there.. havent seen the ugly arms on ebay for awhile..

back on topic:::
but yeah, i dont understand why they do that either, i guess just because 250 and 300 sound better than 229 or 282, haha

Well does anyone have any real input about a bore kit for the 250EX? I want to know how different it really is

works great, great quality. higher compression ratio, 10.8:1. comes with all new gaskets and rings. pretty easy to install. puts out alot more power. $50 for machining the cylinder. increases cylinder to 249cc. no pipe, i removed the exhaust baffle and the airbox lid

its the same motor as a recon which is a 229. the rear end is different, but will fit on a recon and so forth, also it has a bit sportier chassis.

I was going to remove my exhaust baffle but when I tried to take the bolts off the muffler end the first one broke off and I stopped

I tried sending this as a PM so as not to take up room in this thread, but your mailbox is full.

I only rode on them once, so I can't really tell you how they have been. I had a friend put them on for me just to see how they look (didn't have the shocks revalved) and he didn't tighten a nut correctly (had to hold the top while you tightened the bottom), so while I was doing a 30mph wheelie through the ditch it fell apart. A-arm dug into the ground which brought me to a pretty fast stop, but didn't damage the a-arms at all - so I'd have to say they held up quite well for that crash. It got scratched up a little bit and some parts were slightly damaged, like some wouldn't come apart and were stripped from the impact, so I need to clean them up still. The reason why I haven't put them back on is because I never came up with the extra money OR time to send my shocks some place to get revalved. Unfortunately funds are extremely short and I plan on selling the 400ex in the spring, with the a-arms and shocks as a bonus (so I'm losing out on a lot of money).
