cvt trans on a bombardier, I have been thumbimg thru the manual but can't find any thing about gear oil to gear box? I know 2 stroke motors use the oil in the gas but what about the trans?

If I may add to this. We have an Arctic Cat. How much oil do they need in them. How often do you change it. How do you tell how much is in there. I useally run the quad with the wheels up,to see if oil is getting on the gears. Also what kind of oil do you use.

Lou I hope you don't mind me adding to your thread. But I have been thinking about this also.

100cc of gear oil. We us Belray 80 weight. You can also just fill it up until it flows out the over flow tub. We also change our oil after every race and every third practice. Hope this helps

I would use Polaris AGL synthetic gearcase lube. It comes in ablue bottle and is blue in color. The part number is 2871478 for a 12oz bottle. The sight glass on a Polaris is on the left hand side of the trans. It only takes about 7oz and make sure you dont overfill. I think the trans is the same as a Polaris. Hope this helps :eek2:

Man I've never changed or added any to his quad. I have checked for a sight glass and a oil level hole. I can't find anything. On the fill plug there is a little dip stick about 1 inch long. When you run the wheels when quad is on blocks I always made sure that it had a good flow going over the gears. When you removed the plug there was always oil dripping off the dipstick.I figured all is well. I better change it after 22 races and a million hours of practice.

Must be a diff tranny for the Polaris. Our sight glass is about 4in in front of the sprocket, almost right behind the pipe. If i remember right it was behind a sheild that used to be on the stock pipe before we replaced it.:D

If arctic cat is like kasea then there is no sight glass. As for over filling it, my son was in over 20+ harescramble races last year and we had no problems with over filling our trans.

Right on top of the gear box. Mine is about where the front sprocket is, on top of the gearbox. There is a gray rubber plug right on top,on the righthand side.

On our race bikes i fill the gearcase allmost to the the top with Lucas gear saver. Take the vent tube run it up to the top frame rail and then back down to underneath the quad. I change it every few races.
